SCHL PLAYOFF TIEBREAKER PROCEDURE
THREE TEAMS
If three teams are tied after the PTG/G quotient has been calculated, the following tiebreaking
procedure will be used to determine the seeding of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd seed. If any step in the
procedure only seeds one team, that team will assume that position. The three-team tiebreaker
will continue to determine the seeding of the two remaining teams. At no time will teams
revert to the two-team tiebreaker.
1. Highest goal quotient in all games between the teams in the tiebreaker. Total number of
Goals For divided by the Total number of Goals For + Goals Against. The teams two
teams with the highest percentage will advance to the Championship game. If one team
advance, the two remaining teams go to the next step (they do not go back to the ‘Two
Team Tiebreaker’)
• Total Goals For/(Total Goals For + Total Goals Against), if still tied:
2. Lower average amount of goals against in all divisional games received the better seed
(GA/G); if still tied:
3. Higher average amount of goals for in all divisional games receives the better seed
(GF/G); if still tied:
4. Fewest number of penalty minutes in games between teams in the tiebreaker receives
the better seed, if still tied:
